A1 certificate and CoC
What and who is it for? The A1 form is applicable for the employee or self-employed person who is assigned to perform work in other EU country or employee or self-employed person who performs simultaneously work in the Czech Republic and in the other EU country or for those employees or self-employed persons who wish to participate in Czech social security system even these individuals do not qualify for participation in Czech system according to EU social security rules. The Certificate of Coverage is applicable for the employee or self-employed person who is assigned to perform work to a third country with which Czech Republic concluded so called totalization agreement, should apply for the Certificate of Coverage (CoC).
Why do I need it? A1 and CoC confirms that the individual participates in Czech social security system.
How long it takes? The process usually lasts around 1 month for assignments, and between 3-6 months in case of those employees or self-employed persons who wish to participate in Czech social security system even these individuals do not qualify for participation in Czech system according to EU social security rules.
