Employee Card / Employee Card Extension
What and who is it for? The Employee Card is a long-term residence permit for non-EU citizens who have secured a job offer from a Czech employer. Serving as both a work permit and residence permit, it allows you to live and work legally in the Czech Republic. Over time, it can serve as a pathway to Permanent Residence Permit.
There are two variants of Employee Card

Dual Employee Card for local employment serving as a residence permit and work permit in one biometric card

Non-dual Employee Card serving as a residence permit only. For assignments with separate Work Permit combination, for 9 whitelisted countries in Czechia (e.g. USA, Japan, Taiwan etc.) or for non-EU citizens with free access to the Czech labor market (e.g. students, asylum seekers etc.).
While the permit is linked to a specific employer & job position, job position changes are possible with approval from the Ministry of the Interior (exceptions applies).
Who qualifies for it? Any non-EU citizen who secured a job in Czechia with the following conditions: contract for at least 15 working hours per week and the minimum wage set by the Czech Government.
How long is the Employee Card valid?
The Employee Card can be issued for up to 2 years (depending on the length of the employment contract) with the possibility of its renewal.
