Permanent residence permit for newborns in Czechia

What and who is it for? For children of non-EU citizens, who are born in the Czech Republic. A newborn child is entitled to the highest residency status held by either parent, meaning if you have a Permanent Residence Permit, your child can also obtain one. Securing this permit provides long-term stability, access to healthcare, education, and social benefits, and a smoother path to future residency rights for your child.

Who qualifies for it? Newborn children of non-EU citizens who hold a Permanent Residence in Czechia, if their application is submitted within 60 days as of their birth date.  Within this period, their parents must either arrange for their departure or apply for a residence permit or visa at the Ministry of the Interior to ensure their legal stay.

How long is the Permanent Residence Permit valid?

The status is granted for an indefinite period, with the only requirement being the periodic renewal of the biometric card (biometric card) once per 5 years.
